How to play
- Move and cycle the gems. Slide the falling column left or right, and press Up (or tap cycle) to rotate the order of its three gems.
- Match three or more. Line up three or more of the same colour in a row, column or diagonal to clear them and score.
- Chain combos and survive. Clears drop the gems above into new matches for chain bonuses. The pace quickens — keep the well from filling up.
About Columns
Columns is the falling-gem classic: a vertical stack of three coloured gems drops into the well, and you slide it left or right and cycle the gems’ order before it lands. Line up three or more matching gems in a row, a column or a diagonal and they vanish — and when gems above fall into fresh matches, you trigger chain combos for big points. The drops speed up as you go, and it’s game over when the well fills to the top. Your best score is saved locally. No signup, no download.
Frequently asked questions
A column of three coloured gems falls into the well. Move it left or right and press Up to cycle the gem order, then let it land. Three or more of the same colour lined up in a row, column or diagonal clear away. The game ends when the well fills to the top.
In Tetris you fit interlocking shapes to clear full horizontal lines. In Columns every piece is the same three-gem stack, and you clear by matching colours in any direction — row, column or diagonal — which makes setting up chain combos the heart of the game.
When a match clears, the gems above drop down — and if they land in a new line of three or more, those clear too. Each link in that cascade is a chain, and longer chains multiply your score.
