How to play

  1. Stack in alternating colours. Tap a card, then tap a column to place it on a card one rank higher of the opposite colour.
  2. Use the free cells. Park a single card in any empty free cell to free up a move, then bring it back later.
  3. Build the foundations. Send cards to the foundations from Ace up to King in their suit. Complete all four to win.

About FreeCell

FreeCell is the solitaire of pure skill: all 52 cards are dealt face-up from the start, so there’s no luck of the draw — nearly every deal can be solved if you plan ahead. Move cards between the eight columns in descending, alternating-colour order, park single cards in any of the four free cells to untangle a pile, and build the four foundations up from Ace to King by suit. Clear all four foundations to win. No signup, no download, nothing uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

All cards start face-up. Stack them down the eight columns in alternating colours, use the four free cells to hold single cards out of the way, and build the four foundations up by suit from Ace to King. Clear every foundation to win.

Each of the four free cells holds exactly one card. They’re temporary parking spots that let you move cards out of the way and reorganise the columns — the heart of FreeCell strategy.

You can move a run of cards together when they’re in descending, alternating-colour order. How many you can shift depends on how many free cells and empty columns are open.

Almost every deal is solvable with the right sequence of moves. Because all cards are visible, success comes down to planning rather than luck.

You win when all four foundations are complete, each built up from Ace to King in a single suit — all 52 cards home.
