How to play
- Move or wall. On your turn either click a highlighted square to step your pawn, or click a gap to drop a wall.
- Block the computer. Place walls to lengthen the computer’s route — they can’t overlap, cross, or fully seal off a pawn.
- Reach the far side. Be the first pawn to reach the opposite row to win the game.
About Quoridor
Quoridor is an award-winning abstract strategy game played on a 9×9 board. You control the red pawn at the bottom and win by reaching the top row; the computer controls the blue pawn at the top and aims for your row. On each turn you do one of two things: step your pawn one square, or place one of your ten walls in the gap between squares to slow your opponent down. Walls span two squares and cannot overlap or cross — and a wall may never completely seal a pawn off from its goal, so there is always a route through. Pick a difficulty. No signup, no download.
Frequently asked questions
Each turn you either move your pawn one square (up, down, left or right) or place a wall. You play red at the bottom and win by reaching the top row; the computer plays blue and aims for your row. You each start with ten walls.
A wall spans two squares and is dropped into the gap between them. Walls can’t overlap another wall, can’t cross one, and can never completely block a pawn’s only path to its goal. The game only offers placements that keep a route open for both pawns.
Yes. If the pawns are next to each other, you may jump straight over the opponent to the square beyond. If a wall blocks that square, you may step diagonally to either side of the opponent.
Easy mostly walks its pawn toward the goal and rarely walls. Normal compares both players’ shortest paths and places walls that lengthen yours. Hard searches more wall placements and weighs them more aggressively.
Yes. Tap a highlighted square to move or tap a gap to drop a wall; the board scales to your screen on phones and tablets.
