Best Free Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe Game

Win small boards to claim the 3×3 meta-grid — but every move sends your opponent to the next board.

You play X. The cell you choose inside a small board sends the computer to the matching small board for its next move. Win a small board with three in a row to claim it, then win three small boards in a line — across, down or diagonally — to win the game. If you're sent to a board that's already finished, you may play in any open board.

How to play

  1. Play your X. Click any cell in the highlighted small board. You move first as X.
  2. Send your opponent. The cell you pick decides which small board the computer must play in next — use that to control the game.
  3. Win three boards in a line. Claim small boards with three in a row, then line up three claimed boards to win.

About Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe

Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe takes the game you already know and nests it inside itself. The board is a 3×3 grid of nine small tic-tac-toe boards. You play X, the computer plays O, and you win a small board the usual way — three in a row. The twist is the send-to-board rule: the square you choose inside a small board decides which small board your opponent must play in next. Win three small boards in a line to win the whole game. If you’re sent to a board that’s already finished, you may play in any open board. Pick a difficulty. No signup, no download.
